Please join us for the 8th annual Great Plains & EmPower ND Energy Conference on Oct. 14 at the National Energy Center of Excellence at Bismarck State College campus. Topics of the day include traditional and renewable energy, statewide and national energy policy, innovations, new technologies, and the latest research.

Confirmed keynote speakers include:

Karen Alderman Harbert, President and CEO for Institute for 21st Century Energy, U.S. Chamber of Commerce: Harbert leads the Institute's efforts for building support for meaningful energy action nationally and internationally through policy development, education, and advocacy. Under her leadership, the Institute has developed a comprehensive Energy Works for US platform, which provides policy recommendations to secure the country’s energy future and create jobs, revenue and investment; as well as the Index of Energy Security Risk which was the first tool to quantify America’s energy security on an annual basis. Prior to the Institute, Harbert served as Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy and also as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean at the U.S. Agency for International Development. Robert Bryce, Author and Journalist: Bryce has been writing about the energy business since 1989 and is a renowned speaker and author. His writing appears in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, National Review, Washington Post, and the American Conservative. Smaller Faster Lighter Denser Cheaper: How Innovation Keeps Proving the Catastrophists Wrong is his most recent book, published in May 2014. The book showcases “how innovation and the inexorable human desire to make things Smaller Faster Lighter Denser Cheaper is providing consumers with Cheaper and more abundant energy.” Bryce regularly appears on dozens of TV and radio shows, including the BBC, MSNBC, Fox, CNN, PBS and NPR.Robert Bryce
Charles McConnell, Executive Director of the Energy & Environment Initiative, Rice University: McConnell leads the university-wide integration of science, engineering, economic analysis, policy and social sciences to address the diverse issues and challenges associated with energy security, affordability and environmental sustainability. This effort at Rice University partners with industry and external stakeholders to position Rice as an impartial broker that combines technology and policy to create a sustainable energy platform for excellence in resource utilization and environmental stewardship. Prior to his work at Rice University, McConnell served as the Asst. Secretary of Energy of the U.S. Dept of Energy and spent 31 years at Praxair, Inc., providing business leadership and strategic planning with energy technology and R&D activities.Charles McConnell
